Alone in the Dark

Chloe slowly woke up in the Medical Lab with her head aching and her entire body feeling painful and sore. She groaned a little bit and stared down at herself, her wrists were restrained on the bed and she sluggishly tried to free them. Her mind felt foggy and it wasn't helping her actions in the slightest. She couldn't even get her mind thinking of words to say, it scared her and she sank back onto the bed feeling sick.

Raven uncrossed her legs, standing up watching the woman awake, "You've been out for a while." she stated, "How are you feeling?"

Chloe stared at Raven blankly and tried to get her mouth open to say something but that was easier said then done. It was almost as if her mind had forgotten how to speak, her eyes widened in horror. She couldn't say anything...for the girl who always had something to say this was a blow. A few tears escaped and she pulled at the restraints again, how did one try and state her condition without saying anything?

Whether or not the collars could stop her from feelings what was wrong, it never could. She could feel her panic, "Can you not speak?" she waited for a definitive answer.

Chloe shook her head sadly as she tried to sit up, her mind was still fogging up a bit but she forced the shadows back.

"Most abilities will come back within the hour, hopefully." Raven said, the optimism almost sounded sarcastic with her vocal range.

Chloe didn't really listen to her and instead gestured at her hands with her head hoping that the empath got the non verbal message. I really want my hands free, it would make this easier she thought bitterly as without her voice she would have to sign or something.

Raven watched the woman's eyes look at her wrists before looking back at herself. She bowed her head in understanding, untying her hands. Bruce had been a little too rough with tying them, she knew it was was from the way he tied his knots. The way Robin had tied them. She slowly undid them, not wanting to tighten the bindings on accident.

It took her a few moments but the woman finally had Chloe's hands free.

Chloe gave a small smile in thanks and barely kept from wincing, the skin around her wrists had been rubbed raw. She frowned as she vaguely recalled thrashing around and rubbed her wrists as she tried to get the circulation back. That was another thing what had happened? The last thing she remembered was Bruce asking about why Brainiac would be interested in killing off her baby and then nothing.....just blackness.

Raven hadn't been there to the events leading up to all of this. She only had a plea from Zatanna and that was all, "What happened?"

Chloe nodded and frowned as she tried to remember, but nothing came. Her eyes widened and she tapped her head questioningly as she looked at Raven not exactly sure how else to ask about Brainiac. She couldn't sense him in her mind anymore....add to that she felt slightly well dumb er dumber.

Raven shoved a hand into her cloak, pulling out a round object. Assuming that Chloe was asking about Brainiac.

Chloe shuddered as she saw the object in Raven's hand, she knew what it was. The orb in Raven's hand was pitted and had silver encasing bits and pieces of it, to think that that had been in her mind made Chloe sick. She wished she had some way of telling Raven to get rid of it....all Brainiac did was cause harm and destruction where ever it went.

Raven could feel the emotions oozing off of the girl. She winced, quickly throwing the object into her cloak. She'd be sure to banish it into oblivion later.

Chloe met her eyes and wished she was a telepath so she could talk to her mentally, her eyes went back to her wrists. She felt relief at the knowledge that she was no longer Brainiac's vessel it made her....happy and content. All the stress and heartache she had been carrying within herself suddenly seemed lifted, she no longer had to worry about being told daily all the many ways she could kill herself. A small true smile lit up her face at the thought of being free.....free from Brainiac.

Raven felt the happiness flutter from inside of Chloe, for some reason she felt relieved. She had helped the woman to rid herself of that dreadful creature. Raven covered her mouth, stifling a yawn from her exhaustion.

Chloe looked up at Raven and caught her yawning, she fluttered her hands at Raven in a shooing motion. Sending her relief and graditude flowing towards her, she knew that Raven had to be exhausted and she hoped that Raven would go to her room and actually sleep.

Raven bowed her head, feeling the relief and thanking from the woman. She let a small smile grace her lips, "I told you I could help." her voice weakly said before she left the room, closing the door with a silent click.

Chloe nodded as she turned and left, I'm grateful someone could help me she thought as she lay back down.
