A Pleasant Interruption

Clark entered his room and sighed, it was interesting being around Diana again. He bit his lip as he headed to one of the drawers and pulled out a pair of sweat pants. He generally never wore a shirt to bed so he headed to the bathroom to change into the sweat pants. It slightly bothered him that the sweat pants rode pretty low around his hips but he shrugged it wasn't as if anyone was going to see him like this anyway. He grabbed his tooth brush and went to work on cleaning on his teeth.

Diana had decided she'd bother her friend, seeing as she was not even tired. She quickly knocked on the door.

Clark turned around when he heard someone knock on the door and stuck his toothbrush in his mouth before he went to open the door. "Well well well, someone gets bored easily." He said teasingly when he saw Diana.

diana rolled his eyes, "I don't know where anyone else is, remember?" Diana laughed noticing he wasn't wearing a shirt, "Doing your, "Getting ready for bed." ritual?" she air quoted the getting ready for bed statement.

Clark glanced down at himself and grinned, "Well I am tired, do you want me to throw a shirt on?" He asked with a chuckle

Diana laughed, "I don't know. But it's probably a trick question. If I say no then you'll think I'm coming on to you but if I say yes you might feel insulted." Diana thought about it for a moment, wondering what she should say.

Clark laughed, "Oh I know you'll miss my chest if I throw a shirt on so I'll make the decision for you." He said teasingly and opened the door wider so she could come in. He headed over to the drawers and pulled out a white shirt, "Hang on I'm gonna put this away." He said and pulled out the toothbrush before he headed back into the bathroom.

Diana laughed, "Not likely." she called out to him as he moved to the bathroom. She started to explore his bedroom.

Clark finished brushing his teeth before he pulled the shirt on, "So, why are you visiting?" He asked.

"Time differences. It was 10am but it's more like 9pm here." She shrugged, "Plus I haven't seen you in a long while, can you blame me for wanting to catch up with you?"

Clark excited the bathroom and smiled, "Well no, however I wasn't kidding I am tired. So what did you want to talk about?" He asked.

Diana shrugged, "Care to tell me what I've missed in Wonder-boy... SUPER-BOY's life?" Diana groaned, why did she keep messing up his nickname?

Clark laughed, "Is there a reason you keep calling me Wonder-Boy? I mean I'm not complaining, but why not call Bruce Wonder-Boy?" He asked as he folded his arms and leaned against the frame of the bathroom door.

"Cause Bruce isn't wonder-boy. He's..." she paused trying to think of something, "Bruce. He's really not fun unless you get him to open up and that doesn't happen much. Plus he'd ignore me if I said it." Diana looked at him for a moment, "Plus I think it fits you so much better. Also, Super-boy just sounds awkward. I feel sorry for Super Boy." She laughed lightly, moving her hair behind her head again.

Clark smiled, "Yeah well Super Boy is kinda awkward sounding." He admitted with a laugh, "Well, I think I've told you everything that's happened while I've been here so I don't know what else do you want to know?" He asked.

Diana paused, "I don't know. Just this doesn't seem real. It doesn't seem like I'm actually talking to. The rope from before? I used to to make sure you weren't just an illusion. This..." she gestured to all around her, "is completely unreal. I... I don't know. I just keep thinking I'm going to wake up and this is going to all be some sort of fucked up dream."

Clark nodded sympathetically before he joined her, "Believe me, I keep hoping that somehow I'll wake up and discover that it was all a dream. Every day though, I wake up back here, there is a way out but I don't like killing people." He said and stared down at his hands, the same hands that had killed the Black Queen.

"But it's not everyday? Why not enjoy the days in between, not spend the days waiting and constantly thinking that, "Hey... I'm going to have to kill someone." That's what I did. I always woke up, every day and just thought, "Today's is the day that I'm going to find Bruce's and Clark's body somewhere..."" Diana's eyes watered, "It's not health and for a lack of a better term I failed to be the hero and leader I was supposed to be." Diana's breathing pattern changed. She didn't breath normally, her breath slowed, "Just..." Diana could not figure out how to explain what she meant.

Clark put his arm around her, "Its ok Diana, we'll find a way out of this mess. I promise." He said firmly, it seemed like lately he was making a lot of promises, he hoped that he could keep this one.

Diana rested her head on Clark's chest, hearing his heart beating made this all too surreal. She wasn't emotional but he kept bringing up these feelings from inside of her. Things she couldn't explain.

Clark wasn't exactly sure how he was supposed to react when she put her head against his chest. "So things back home are ok?" He asked.

"They're fine except for the fact everyone cannot explain the fact that you all are missing. Lois Lane of all people called me to ask if they had found you dead, she was worried. She. Was. Worried. I hung up on her. I can only take so much of that woman some days... that and the fact it was the every day call from Robin and Oracle about Batman. Then with the calls for Green Arrow, Artemis... All of them. I can't tell their families where they are, I can't tell their friends, I... I can't tell anyone anything. It's... more than I can take and I'm a demigod, I wonder how Martian Manhunter is going to take it..." Diana made a displeased noise, "Then what happens when he's gone? I'm so stupid I should not have opened that stupid box." Diana whispered out, she closed her eyes, trying to picture everything going on, "Crime was down since the big baddies aren't there, but not by much. Maybe 10 percent at most." Diana sighed.

Clark frowned and tried not to think about Lois after all she had been the one to break up with him. "Hopefully J'onn can handle things without us." He said quietly, he knew that J'onn was powerful he just hoped that he could lead the rest of the Justice League.

"J'onn can't do it, Clark. If anything Aqualad would. J'onn is too into his girlfriend to see what he's doing wrong. I get it, of course but there's a time and a place for things like that." Diana sighed lightly, moving off and away from Clark, feeling like she may have insulted him. She felt wrong and depressed so she'd leave him to his thoughts and things like that. She left the room without a word.

Clark watched her go and sighed, why do I feel like I said the wrong thing? he wondered.
