Wondering Souls

Scott had taken a walk around the Garden, he found it to be relaxing after his constant stressing with recent events. He stopped running his hand through his golden brown hair. He adjusted his glasses taking a seat on a bench, looking up into the sky. He sighed lightly, this Jean thing confusing him moreso than anything else.

Kitty was out taking Shadow for a walk and froze when she saw a very familiar figure sitting on a bench, "Hey Scott!" She called and hurried forward.

Scott looked to the side, moving his head forward into a normal sitting position, "Kitty?" He asked lightly, the voice seemed so familiar but he hadn't heard it in so long.

Kitty smiled, "Yeah its me Scott, how have you been?" She asked as she came closer to Scott, she frowned he didn't look so good up close.

"I've been much better." He stated looking at her, shock clearly etched on the man's face, "How have you been?"

Kitty smiled, "Oh I'm ok I guess, a lot of stuff has happened here though and none of it is good." She said quietly as she picked Shadow up to hold in her arms. "So when did you get here?" She asked.

Scott looked at Kitty, with a raised eyebrow wanting to know what it was, "Yesterday, the Protectors had me delivered here. Tried to use Jean to seduce me to their side." He whispered out, his heart twisting. He loved Jean, so much. It was hard not to just accept it just to be with her.

Kitty's eyes widened, "Jean's here too? Why haven't I seen her around?" She asked in shock as she stroked Shadow's fur.

"Because she's a Protector, Kitty. She's the enemy." Scott leaned over, his face in the palm of his head. His world was getting thrown around. It was causing sleeplessness and paranoia. Something he could really deal without.

Kitty bit her lip and sat next to him, "Well have you talked to her about it?" She asked as Shadow fidgeted on her lap.

"No, I haven't seen her around since yesterday." He said lightly, exasperated with himself and these situations.

Kitty leaned over and touched his hand, "Just don't give up on her Scott, she wouldn't want that." She said quietly as she gently squeezed his hand before releasing it.

Scott sat up, nodding with her, "So... how long have you been here?" He asked, trying to put together a time line.

Kitty frowned as she thought about it, "About a year and a half, honestly though it seems longer then that some days." She said softly as she thought about everything that had happened to her in that time.

"Sounds right." He stated, "Is Rogue here too? And Storm? And Logan?" He questioned, he needed to see if he could locate all of his lost members.

Kitty nodded, "All present and accounted for except Mr. Logan is on a quest and he's been gone for over a month. Storm...she's in a coma and I don't know if she'll ever wake up." She said sadly.

Scott sighed out, "Well, that counts for missing members. Hellion, Jubilee, Gambit and... Laura wouldn't happen to be here either? We lost contact with them around... a month ago." He looked back at Kitty, she had always been quite helpful.

Kitty bit her lip, "The only one I've seen from that group is Laura but I heard from Rogue that Gambit was here too so it wouldn't surprise me if the others were here. Anyone else you need to know about?" She asked.

"Xavier?" He whispered out, unsure if it was true. He hadn't seen Xavier and had taken over running the school after Emma's disappearance.

Kitty looked down, "He's one of the Protector's Scott....thing is I think he's being mind-controlled or something because he was acting very unlike himself when I saw him." She said quietly as she tugged on a strand of hair.

Scott was half tempted to hit something, but decided against it. He almost wished he had excepted the Protectors' offer, just so he could get Xavier out of here, "I wonder if that's why Jean's here." He stated fatly, being the only thing he was thinking at the moment.

Kitty frowned, "I don't know Scott...if she is then I don't see how we're ever going to be able to get him out." She said quietly

"I know." He said, "Jean sought me out last night, found me while I was just sleeplessly wondering around the facility like I usually do now in days. She watches us, well sometimes I'd like to think that." He had a bit of hope, a little. He wanted her back again.

Kitty reached out and held his hand again, "I'm sorry Scott, if there's anything else I can do please let me know." She said quietly.

"So... how did they get out? Couldn't you just phase out of the collar?" He asked, slightly curious.
